FESTIWAL TKANINY KRAKÓW 2004, zainicjowany przez powstaly przy krakowskim Okregu ZPAP Klub Twórców "STRUKTURA", towarzyszy swoimi wystawami XI MIEDZYNARODOWEMU TRIENNALE TKANINY UNIKATOWEJ w LODZI. Jest on spotkaniem Artystów, w których twórczosci obecne sa tkanina unikatowa oraz wszystkie inne formy, czasami bardzo odlegle od tego, co potocznie kojarzy sie z tradycyjnym warsztatem tkackim, a chetnie jest okreslanym jako SZTUKA WLÓKNA. Mam zaszczyt byc komisarzem wystawy wybranych przez znakomitych Jurorów prac reprezentujacych niezwykly rodzaj twórczosci, jakim jest miniatura i mala forma. Celowo nie uzylam okreslenia tkacka albowiem zgodnie z tym co juz pisalam, trudno nalozyc na wszystkie eksponaty tak usztywniajaca rame. MINIATURA i MALA FORMA - na szczescie wymiar zewnetrzny nie ogranicza ich formy wyrazu - wrecz przeciwnie. Obcujac z tymi drobnymi, zawartymi w formacie 20 X 20 X 20 w przypadku miniatury i 50 X 50 X 50 w przypadku malej formy obiektami, mam uczucie, iz piekno i sila wyrazu w nich skondensowana ma nieograniczone mozliwosci. Polaryzacja sztuki od dawna jest faktem; trudno wiec dziwic sie, ze wystawa zawiera tak rózne prace. Nazwanie ich obiektami czy tez eksponatami to najbardziej adekwatne w moim mniemaniu okreslenia. Sa to bowiem zarówno kompozycje plaszczyznowe jak i przestrzenne. Artysci stosuja wiele niekonwencjonalnych rozwiazan, laczac je ze splotami tkackimi uzyskuja róznorodne faktury, buduja struktury, ksztaltuja formy. Wszystkie te dzialania pozwalaja na uzyskanie zaskakujacych nieraz efektów. Miniatura i mala forma to zjawiska autonomiczne. To nie fragmenty wyciete np. z duzej kompozycji, lecz samodzielnie zyjace dziela majace sile wyrazu i wielosc kreacji równa ilosci Artystów je tworzacych. Obie te formy wymagaja wielkiej dyscypliny i skupienia. Mamy wiec okazje obcowac z dzielami majacymi w sobie tajemnicza sile oraz moc nieprzemijajacych wartosci w skondensowanej postaci. Nie bez kozery powiedziano "MALE JEST PIEKNE", a ja pozwole sobie, zapraszajac do obejrzenia tej ekspozycji dodac: i wymaga wyciszenia oraz refleksji tak bardzo cennych i zjawiskowych w naszych niespokojnych czasach.

Festival of Tapestry KRAKÓW 2004, the initiative of Artists Club “STRUKTURA"- affiliated to ZPAP District Cracow, is the one accompanying the 11th International Triennial of Unique Tapestry in Lodz. The festival is the meeting place for artists whose works cover the fields of unique tapestry as well as all other forms, sometimes very distant from what usualy one associates with traditional weaver's shop and what is easiliy called the ART of FIBRE. I have honour to be the curator of exhibitions which have been selected by prominent members of the Jury, the works representing unusual field of creativity, namely miniature and small form. It was on puropose not to use the word “weaving" because, as I mentioned before, it is difficult to apply the same stiff frame to all exhibited pieces. MINIATURE and SMALL FORM luckily the size does not limit their form of expression just opposite. Having contact with these tiny pieces / not exceeding 20x20x20cm in miniature and 50x50x50cm in case of small objects/ I have the feeling that beauty and power of expression condensed in them offers unlimited possibilities. The polarization in art has been the fact for a long time thus one cannot be surprised that so different pieces are being exhibited. To call them pieces or objects seems, to my opinion, the most adequate. The compositions are both two and three dimmentional. The artists apply many unconventional solutions and connecting them with weaver's splices receive various textures, build structures, shape forms. All these activities enable to obtain sometimes surprising effects. Miniature and small form are the autonomous phenomena. They are not e.g. the fragments cut from a large composition but independently living pieces having their own power of expression and the multitude of creations equaling the number of their authors. Both these forms require great discipline and concentration. This is why we have this unique occasion to have contact with works which posses the secret strength and power of never ending values in a condensed form. It is not without reason to say “SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL", and I should say additionally, while inviting you to visit the exhibition, ...and requires calmness and reflection, so dear and rare in our calmless times.
